Tipu Sultan Fort is a landmark of the Bangalore city built by the founder of the city Kempe Gowda and it was later broadened by Tipu Sultan, the Emperor of Mysore. It is located adjacent to City Market and was built in 1537. This fort is well-known in history as David Baird and other army officers of the British were imprisoned here by Hyder Ali.
The intricately carved arches of the Tipu Sultan Fort are built in Islamic style. A Ganapati temple is located inside the fort which is well-preserved now. The Tipu Sultan Palace is located inside the fort which is made out of Teakwood. This palace is embellished with pillars, arches and balconies.

Beautiful gardens are located in one side of the palace and floral motifs decorate the walls as well the ceilings of the Palace. Various state affairs were held at the upper floor during Tipu Sultan’s rule. British used this palace as secretariat till 1867 after the demise of Tipu Sultan.
