Located opposite the Russel Market Square in Shivajinagar, Bangalore, St. Mary's Basilica attracts the eyes of the devotees as well travelers. It was earlier a small chapel and later it has been converted into a gothic style church by L.E. Kleiner.
St. Mary's Basilica was embellished with a large number of stained glass windows in 1982 which are said to be imported from Paris. During the II world war time these windows had been removed and after India’s independence again restored to its original form.
The main attraction of the church is the tower and gothic-style pointed arches. This church has been declared as a basilica in 1973 by a Papal order by Pope John Paul VI and it became the 6th basilica of India. St Mary's Feast is held annually in the month of September at this church.
