Shivanasamudra Waterfalls are located in Mandya district at a distance of 120 kilometers from Bangalore. Cauvery River breaks off into two streams; both of them cascade down to 200 feet fall. The western stream is
Gaganachukki, while the eastern stream is called as Bharachukki. The hill forest of Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary surrounds these waterfalls.

Gaganachukki
The maximum water flow of this waterfall is 667,000 cubic feet per second. The water falls down height of a 98 meter. The first hydroelectric power station of Asia was set up here. The power was supplied to the Kolar Gold Field which was the first city of Asia that receives electricity.
Bharachukki
The edge of Bharachukki is wider than the Gaganachukki waterfall. One of the sects of this waterfall takes the shape of U like Niagara waterfalls. The current are too much speedy and so one should not swim here.
