If you want to have a glimpse of folk life of Karnataka, don’t miss a visit to Karnataka Folk Museum. It is located at a distance of 53 kilometers from Bangalore city on the west of Kumara Park. It covers an area of 1.5 acres of land. The main attraction of the folk music is various collection of folk music and videos of folk dance.
The colorful folk culture of the state is displayed in a nutshell in this folk museum of the state. The items displayed in the museum are unique masks, colorful artifacts, costumes, etc.
A carved temple chariot is the main attraction of the museum. Stone carvings are also exhibited at the museum. The folk museum has 3 main buildings namely Lokamahal, Lokamatha Mandira, and Chitrakuteera.
Lokamahal exhibits a rare collection of folk instruments, puppets, masks, utensils, weapons, etc. Lokamatha Mandira houses utensils, baskets and earthen jars used to store grain and pickles. Various snaps of folk life are displayed in the Chitrakuteera building.
