And then there were three. The final trio of contestants will face off this week on “American Idol,” and if you think you know who might win, “Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe points out that there’s really no way to predict the winner.

With it all down to Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and judge-favorite Joshua Ledet, the chances of predicting who will be the season 11 champion is nearly impossible, especially given the show’s history.

“I guess I was shocked at Colton [Dixon] going so early. I thought he might even make the final. We’ve had very talented singers all this season. I’m thrilled with the three people who are left,” he told MTV News at an event announcing Fox’s fall lineup on Monday. “I can’t even begin to think who the final is going to be between.

“And then whichever combination you look: If Joshua is sent home, where does Joshua’s votes go to, Jessica or to Phillip? Where does Jessica’s votes go, if she’s sent home? Where do Phillip’s votes [go]?” he continued about any final combinations ahead of the May 23 finale. “So… I still don’t know with the combination of just moving it around who is going to win.”

That being said, Lythgoe must have some gut feeling about who will join the ranks of Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Kris Allen as the “Idol” victor this time around? “I don’t have to use my gut,” he said. “I know the results every week and nobody has won two weeks on the run. It’s so dependent, I think, on song choice now and how they do. The judges can critique, America makes its own decision at the end of the day.”

Diggy’s “Two Up” party isn’t over. On Friday, Young Mr. Simmons celebrated the premiere of his “Two Up” video with MTV’s RapFix blog, and the teenage MC was so excited that he sat with MTV News and broke down each scene in the Clifton Bell-directed clip.

The vid begins with Diggy standing alone, playing air piano in time with the track’s opening keys. The action may seem insignificant, but it’s actually a key component to the song. “That was what really drew me to the track when I first heard the beat,” he said. “It was just those piano keys that I love.”

As the beat begins to take shape, so does the video, and a bouncer begins to let Diggy’s specially invited guests into the party. Of course the crowd is compromised mostly of females. “There were so many girls at the shoot that we were like, ‘We have to get some dudes in the mix,’ ” Diggy said, laughing at the non-dilemma.

“They were like New York, young kids, you know how they get,” the MC said of the video’s extras. “It was good energy and we didn’t even have to tell them to get hyped at no point in the video. I was feeding off of their energy when I was in front of them during those shots. It was just easy.”

It wasn’t just the crowd that excited Diggy: The fashion-forward MC was also hyped at his on-camera wardrobe, though some of his favorite items didn’t even make the cut. In one scene Simmons sports a turquoise jacket with two mini-Jesus pieces around his neck. On his feet he wears a special pair of black and gold Air Jordan #6s that were released back in 2006 and now go for as much as $850 online. “I’m kinda mad that you didn’t get that in the shot,” Diggy said of his coveted footwear.

Another key scene, in which a silhouetted Diggs dances across the screen, was actually inspired by another rap great. For the “Two Up” video, Simmons borrowed from Kanye West’s 2007 clip for “Homecoming.” “That whole silhouette idea is something that we drew inspiration from but made it a little different with the color, because that video is black and white,” he explained. “I like how it came out overall for real. It’s just a good feeling.”

Marvel fans are well aware after the end credits of every one of the comic company’s movies will be a small scene alluding to the next film. Following “The Avengers” fans were introduced to Thanos, one of Marvel Universe’s most important villains. Well, guess what? According to “Prometheus” writer Damon Lindelof, “Battleship” followed suit.

YAHTZEE! We’re just kidding with you, but wouldn’t that be fun? We’re kind of hoping it happens now. “Battleship” director Peter Berg needs to pull an “Avengers”-style re-shoot and add it to the end credits. Or actually, change Yahtzee to Candy Land and we’re on board.

With “Battleship” releasing in theaters this Friday the big question is: Who will say the board games’ classic tagline? Zach Braff weighed in on his preference writing, “I hope Rihanna’s the one who gets to say ‘You sunk my battleship.’”

MTV News recently caught up with the singer who said she was “intimidated” by her role in the action film. “I was walking into this as an amateur ? a complete amateur. I didn’t know anything,” she said. ” I was a wreck, just like, scared to sh–.” Maybe she was nervous because she had to carry the film’s most anticipated line?

Personally, Liam Neeson gets our vote for the phrase. As Admiral Shane he’s in a high place of naval power, plus he has the booming voice to project the line amidst a raging alien war.

Lady Gaga was one of the big winners on Saturday night at the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards, taking home the prize for Outstanding Music Artist for her Born This Way? album. The show honors various branches of the media that represent the LGBT community.

The show was hosted by “Glee” stars Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera and included guest spots from Dakota Fanning, “Jersey Shore” nice guy Vinny Guadagnino,? talk show host Wendy Williams, “Top Chef” star Padma Lakshmi and Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir.

Broadway veteran Bernadette Peters and TV star John Stamos presented the Vito Russo Award to Craig Zadan and Neil Meron for their work on the NBC musical series “Smash.” The Russo award is presented annually to openly LGBT media professionals who have made a difference in promoting equality. In accepting the award, Meron said the pair, who were also behind the Oscar-winning movie musical “Chicago” and “Hairspray,” have spent a long time trying to “fight, persuade and manipulate” Hollywood into including LGB characters in their work.

Also on hand was openly gay 17-year-old high school student Katy Butler, who received a special award from Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein for her work in launching a Change.org campaign last month to argue for a PG-13 rating for the upcoming documentary, “Bully.”

Other winners included: “Dancing With the Stars” (Outstanding Reality Program), for including the story line of transgender dancer Chaz Bono last season, the HBO film “Cinema Verite” (Outstanding TV Movie or Mini Series), a film focused on the life of a black lesbian teenager, “Pariah” (Outstanding Film — Limited Release), “Battle Against Bullying” from ABC World News with Diane Sawyer (Outstanding TV Journalism Segment) and the “Batwoman” comic book by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman (Outstanding Comic Book).

More awards will be handed out on April 21 in Los Angeles and June 2 in San Francisco.

Filming a movie inevitably puts an actor in one or two compromising situations, and during the shoot for “One for the Money,” Jason O’Mara may have strayed farther than he and co-star Katherine Heigl were expecting.

With the Blu-ray and DVD for “One for the Money” hitting stores today, we have an exclusive look at the gag reel featured on the disc. During one of those unused takes of O’Mara and Heigl kissing, the actor’s hands wandered a bit, making for a funny-awkward moment on set.

When O’Mara spoke with us for the release, we simply had to ask what was going on during that scene. Playing up his innocence, he joked that he couldn’t recall the scene. “I have absolutely no recollection of that whatsoever,” he said.

But then with a little pressure, O’Mara began to remember some of the gory details. “It was a beautiful summer’s day, and we went for a ride in the car. Obviously, you have to do quite a few takes of this,” O’Mara said. “Of course, Katie and I are entirely professional, but sometimes you don’t have complete control over your body in that situation. You want it to be appropriate, but at the same time, you want it to be kind of hot.”

That’s all O’Mara could recall about the particular take, but he did remember a few giggles from set. “I can’t remember the exact take, but some people were snickering at the placement of my hands,” he said. “I certainly didn’t take advantage of the situation. She and I are both happily married.”

The actual scene during which that blooper took place, eventually never made it into the finished film. “That was an ending that didn’t make the final cut of the movie,” O’Mara said. “It was an alternative ending where Morelli and Plum actually get together. She buys a new convertible from the bounty that she gets for turning in Joe Morelli, and she takes him out for a spin in it, and they make out in the front seat.”

The reason for changing the ending had to do with the nature of the characters’ relationship in the books. “For whatever reason, the powers that be decided that it wasn’t the correct ending or at least the ending that they wanted. It seemed a little cozy, a little tied up in a bow,” O’Mara said. “These characters, they have a very drawn out, epic sex life together. It blows hot and cold. Ending it on a hot note didn’t seem quite right.”

Lady Gaga turned 26 years young on Wednesday (March 28), and to help celebrate, MTV News drew up a handy A-to-Z guide touching on some of the most exciting things to come from Mother Monster. Read on and share your birthday wishes for the pop princess!

A: April 27. On that day, Gaga will launch what’s sure to be one of the year’s most spectacular spectacles at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea, which brings us to …

B: … Born This Way Ball! We were there when Gaga announced the name of the tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey, last year, and it has been hinted that we can expect an “electro pop opera.” She had us at “opera.”

C: Castle. Mother Monster tweeted an image of the stage design for the tour, and the elaborate gothic castle has us excited.

D: “Dark.” Gaga’s former creative director, Laurieann Gibson, opened up just last week about why she parted ways with the pop star, telling “ET Canada” that Gaga’s ideas “got a little dark for me creatively.”

E: Elton John. The godmother to John’s adopted son, Gaga has teased a duet with the “Rocket Man” singer for her next album.

F: Fernando Garibay. The musical director behind Born This Way told MTV News that the new album already has a title and concept.

G: Gothic. Veils, brooches and lots of black: Gaga has adopted a gothic theme for her tour, but also in her fashion choices.

H: “Heavy Metal Lover.” This jam has been begging for radio play; at the very least, the BTW cut should make it to the tour set list.

I: Inez & Vinoodh. The Dutch photography duo were heavily involved in the spectacle surrounding Gaga’s “Yoü and I” video, crafting awesome fashion clips after the official music video.

J: Joanne. Lady Gaga’s parents recently opened this Italian trattoria, named for Gaga’s late aunt, on New York City’s Upper West Side.

K: Kinney, as in Taylor Kinney. The beautiful man who played Gaga’s love interest in the “Yoü and I” video is rumored to be her real-life love interest too.

L: Luc Carl. Gaga must still be on good terms with her ex-BF, because she recently tweeted a shout-out to him when he published his new book, “The Drunk Diet.”

M: Monster Pit. The special enclosed space within the Born This Way Ball stage where lucky Monsters who line up for hours, even days, before the show will be able to take in the concerts.

N: Nicola Formichetti. The singer’s new creative director will be her co-HBIC for the foreseeable future.

O: Oprah. The talk-show queen is Gaga’s new BFF, pretty much. She even tapped the OWN network boss to interview her not long after they launched Gaga’s anti-bullying-focused Born This Way Foundation together.

P: Piano. One of the best parts of the Monster Ball was when Gaga would slow things down, chatting with the crowd and showing off her raw talent at the piano.

Q: Quinceañera. Gaga’s one-word Twitter response to a Little Monster who asked how she would celebrate her 26th birthday this year, never mind that it’s the kind of party reserved for 15-year-olds. They grow up so fast.

R: Red Wine. Widely known to be Mother Monster’s alcoholic beverage of choice, alongside whiskey and beer.

S: “Stuck on F—in’ You.” This unreleased and unedited track was leaked by Gaga herself as a Christmas gift to her Little Monsters. She recorded the naughty song on her tour bus last go-round. Can we get another?

T: Tea. Gaga’s non-alcoholic beverage of choice, about which she recently tweeted a lesson she learned: #KettlesAreForTeaNotFashion.

U: Unicorns. The mythical creatures may not exist, but Gaga swoons for them, and why not? Fantasy is as important to her as reality.

V: Video Music Awards. Is it too early to begin the campaign for her to blow our minds again at the 2012 VMAs? We’d even settle for Jo Calderone again.

W: Wigs. Her supply is never-ending and will likely continue to fascinate us right on through her 26th year.

X: “Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson.” Amazing photo book. Seriously, check it out.

Y: Yuyi. Will the mermaid join Gaga on tour this year? As long as the tour bus is sea-creature-friendly.

Z: Z100 Jingle Ball. In December, Gaga performed a short-but-captivating set at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that gave us a peek at what’s to come on the Born This Way Ball.

The Grand Champ is back. On Tuesday (May 15), DMX returned to rap’s arena with his free The Weigh In EP as an online download. It’s been six years since the Dog dropped his last album, Year of the Dog … Again, and today the Yonkers, New York, rap great is happy that the focus is back on his music and not the legal drama that has plagued his career.

“It’s a good thing. I wish it was always like that but you can’t really worry about what people think, what they say. I just gotta do me,” DMX told MTV News over the phone on Tuesday. “The focus is on taking the music seriously, as a job, and less trouble.”

When DMX first emerged in 1998, he took the rap game by storm with a pair of groundbreaking and multi-platinum albums, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. Through the years, however, X has been making headlines for his mounting legal trouble and jail stints. It’s actually an issue he addresses on “Last Hope,” one of the EP’s stand-out tracks. “Damn I’m goin’ through it again/ After tellin’ everybody I wouldn’t do it again,” he spits with his unmistakable gruff.

Just as its title suggests, The Weigh In is merely a set-up for the main event. X will drop his new studio album, Undisputed, this fall. “Everywhere I go people are like, ‘When’s the album droppin? When’s the album droppin’?’ So I was just like, lemme hit ‘em with something, let them know, give them a little appetizer of what it’s gonna be like,” he said of The Weigh In. “Not the same songs, because I’m sitting on like three albums right now, but ya know, just what it’s gonna be like.”

As if X wasn’t enough incentive for fans to download, the Dog also called in a few favors from Snoop Dogg and Tyrese, who both appear on the EP. “It was incredible. I just happened to call Snoop, while I was in the studio, he answered the phone, I sent him the joint, the next day I had it back,” he recalled. “I appreciate the fact that the love is still there. I look forward to working with more artists. I normally don’t work with too many artists, but these have always been friends of mines.”

There’s nothing typical about Jay Electronica. In fact, many wondered how the enigmatic MC would fit in with the major-label system at all. Luckily for Jay Elec, his Roc Nation boss Jay-Z is sympathetic to the sensibilities of his creative spirit.

“I love that, I want to support that sort of energy. I want people to be creative and not traditional, not just a single [at] this time, this time [and] this time,” Jay-Z told MTV News on Monday, when he was in Philadelphia to announce his two-day Made in America music festival. “You know, he operates at his own time, but the album is really close.”

Hov announced in November 2010 that he signed Elect to his budding Roc Nation label. Jigga insisted then that his goal was to “reintroduce magic to hip-hop,” and a year and a half later, the God MC is still excited by the New Orleans rapping wizard.

Electronica has long hyped his official debut, Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn), with gleeful tweets, sending periodic updates on the LP’s progress. In March he messaged fans, stating that the wait was finally over and the album was complete, though he made no reference to any release date. “Dear Believers and Patient Supporters. Thank you for your patience and support. The Album will be turned in Tomorrow evening. The wait ends,” he tweeted.

Still, when it comes to the “Exhibit C” rapper’s sporadic music-release patterns, there is no telling. In April he dropped “Dear Moleskine.” Before that, in October 2011, it was the Prodigy-assisted “Call of Duty”, and before that, back in November 2010, there was “Shiny Suit Theory.” It’s not a pace traditionally suited for today’s rap race.

But Jay-Z assures us that there is an album and that it’s pretty damn good, if he does say so himself. “It’s exactly what it should be ? it’s amazing. Him as a lyricist is almost scary. He’s scary good,” Jigga gushed. “I’m doing something to it that’s really untraditional, so we’ll see how it works.”
